Artwalk Wakefield

Alongside the art market you can also enjoy Travel Posters by Ellie Way. Ellie Way is a Wakefield-based designer, screen-printer and maker of local goods. Her travel posters were created in 2020, motivated by ‘lockdown blues’ and inspired by her daily walks around Wakefield. Inspired by the designs from the ‘golden age’ of travel, Ellie digitally collages hand-printed textures with nostalgic colour palettes and typefaces. To view Ellie’s work, make your way up to the mezzanine floor via the stairs or lift where you will also be able to meet the artist!

There will also be Walk Like a Duck by Jack Land on display. Jack Land is an illustrator based in Middlestown, Wakefield. His work blends analogue techniques like fineliners and watercolours with digital tools such as Adobe Suite and Procreate. Inspired by children’s books and sequential narrative, Jack’s style and themes are eclectic and whimsical, with a dash of levity. Jack’s large scale artwork Walk Like a Duck is a reflection on how neurodivergent people navigate life differently, finding “our own normal,” solving life’s puzzles and trying to fit in.

Artwalk is Wakefield's bi-monthly evening celebrating art, performance, music, heritage and culture, taking place on the final Wednesday of every other month.

An alternative night out for those living and working in the area and neighbouring districts, Artwalk is always free to attend and has become a staple of the local arts scene. Artwalk is organised by an unfunded voluntary group based at Artwalk's original home of Westgate Studios.
