When you sign up as a WX volunteer, we will add you to our volunteering database. Then, when we have large events, gigs or other occasions requiring volunteers, we will email you directly to invite you to be part of it!

Rhubarb Festival Ambassador Volunteers

The Rhubarb Festival is BACK! Wakefield’s favourite festival celebrates this quirky vegetable, with cooking demos, live music, food stalls and more. Find out more about Rhubarb Festival on Experience Wakefield.

Ambassador Role

We need friendly, enthusiastic volunteer Ambassadors to support the Events Team over the weekend! 

You must be willing to work as part of a team, following instructions and taking initiative as required. Please note this is a very busy event, so you we are looking for people who are comfortable with crowds.

As an Ambassador, you may be:

  • Helping create the atmosphere at Rhubarb Festival by greeting visitors
  • Providing programmes and event information to visitors as needed (for example to nearest toilets, recycling stations, parking)
  • Helping out with any tasks on the day that ensure the smooth running of the event, such as welcoming visitors as they arrive by coach
  • Helping and assist event attendees where needed, in a calm, polite and friendly manner
  • Supporting WX team on crafting stations
  • If you speak another language, we would love to know if you are willing to share information in this language to make our events accessible for all

Shifts Times

Friday 20 February 

  • Shift 1: 9.30am - 12.30pm
  • Shift 2: 12.30pm - 3pm

Saturday 21 February

  • Shift 1: 9.30am - 12.30pm
  • Shift 2: 12.30pm - 3pm

Sunday 22 February

  • Shift: 11am - 2pm

Training

Ambassadors will need to attend a briefing session, during which all event training will be provided.

Choose one of the following:

  • Tues 17 Feb – 1pm-2pm ONLINE
  • Weds 18 Feb – 4pm-5pm In person at WX

If you are unable to attend, a training pack can be sent out, and there will be a briefing at the start of the shift.
