About Us

Wakefield Exchange is what happens when you take a building and fill it with life. Live music that makes you stay longer than you're meant to, comedy nights that leave you giggling for days, food worth turning up hungry for and art that makes you stop and look twice, and all sorts of events that make a regular day feel…a bit less regular. It's a place where something's always going on, and no two visits feel quite the same.

It's built for everyone, whether you've come for a gig, toddler disco, a craft fair, a quiet wander through an exhibition, or just a decent pint brewed on-site, you're as welcome as anyone else.

It's friendly, it's accessible, and genuinely welcoming in that easy, no-fuss Yorkshire kind of way.

There's even modular meeting rooms to our largest space that can accommodate up to 1000 people, where we offer a variety of room hire options for all types of activities.

WX is all about bringing people together, to share experiences, discover something new, and be part of something bigger. It's a place shaped by the people who walk through its doors, where every visit adds to its story.

This is YOUR venue, and something to be proud of. A local spot to come back to and call your own.

If you've not been yet, well…you probably should!

WX is run by a small but mighty team as part of the Arts, Culture and Leisure department at Wakefield Council, supported using public funding by Department for Design, Culture, Media & Sport, and Arts Council England.
