Artwalk Returns! Pop in to WX to check out some amazing local artists and poets.

WX are thrilled to be a part of Artwalk Wakefield.

Artwalk takes over Wakefield City Centre on Wednesday 27 September, showcasing talented artists from the local area and beyond.

Pop into WX to check out this showcase of local artists!

Mills in Colour - Kirstie Williams

The Wall is a new showcase space at Wakefield Exchange, celebrating the creativity of artists from across the Wakefield district. The first showcase features Kirstie Williams, a printmaker and textile artist. Kirstie’s showcase explores the use of natural colours and plant-based printing inks, inspired by Wakefield’s rich industrial textile heritage and its historic mill buildings.

Kirstie will be at The Wall for ArtWalk between 5pm – 8pm. Kirstie Williams is known for her process-led practice, which draws on archival materials and textile heritage. Alongside her studio work, she delivers community workshops and courses, promoting creativity as a tool for wellbeing and inclusion. Instagram: @kirstiewilliamsprint

Marie Keen

Local artist Marie enjoys variety in her work, pushing boundaries and using various mediums; traditional oils, charcoal, acrylic, coloured pencils.

Marie began her journey into art through a local life drawing group more than seven years ago, choosing charcoal as her medium.

She then spent time learning various techniques and the broad versatility of traditional oils before being drawn back into her love of charcoal.

For Artwalk this September, Marie will be displaying a traditional oil canvas piece a metre and a half long. The painting reflects on some of the architecture and buildings in Wakefield; the marks we make and asks the question of whether the city has lost its identity?

Marie lives in Wakefield with her wife and two cats and is based in Westgate studios.

Tammy Downey

Tammy will be sharing a selection of her photography works - more details to come

Neurohive CIC

Imagined Realities - Reimagining what it means to create in a digital world - In Imagined Realities, young people from across Wakefield transform Minecraft’s digital landscape into a collaborative canvas. Through play, experimentation, and shared imagination, simple blocks become structures, spaces, and stories that reveal new ways of seeing and creating. Visitors are invited to explore the evolving build and witness live creation projected onto a giant screen, where connection and creativity come to life.

This project is delivered by Think Cre8tive Group with funding from Live Well Wakefield.
