Failure to provide acceptable proof of carer identification at the event will result in refusal of entry.

After hundreds of comedians entered and heats took place across England, Scotland and Wales, the competition now reaches its crucial semi-final stage at Wakefield Exchange.

The British Comedian of the Year 2026 Semi-Final brings together some of the most exciting stand-up talent in the country, all competing for a place in the prestigious Grand Final at London's iconic Comedy Store on 8 December 2026.

With the biggest cash prize in UK comedy (£10,001) and one of stand-up's most coveted titles on the line, audiences can expect an evening of exceptional comedy. Each comedian will perform a ten-minute set packed with their very best material in a bid to impress both the judges and the crowd. This is where you come in; audience votes will help decide who secures a coveted place in the final!

Founded by The Stand-Up Club, British Comedian of the Year is one of the UK's most respected comedy competitions, created to discover and celebrate the country's best all-round circuit and television comedians.

Previous Winners include Vlad Ilich, Luke Toulson, Alistair Williams, Dan Tiernan, Jeff Innocent, Simon Lomas and Mark Maier.
