I Can Be… A Song Writer !

Emma Stakes is a vocalist, songwriter and creative producer. She’s worked for Sony, X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, America’s Got Talent and leads talent discovery for Unsigned North. Emma will lead a session on the craft of songwriting. Participants will collaborate to write lyrics to a live brief, explore melody-building and learn what a career in the music industry can look like today.

I Can Be… A Performer!

Natalie Bellingham is a theatre maker, performer, and giggle doctor who makes and tours her own work across the UK. Natalie will lead a fun, practical session exploring different approaches to storytelling including writing and visual storytelling. She will share some of the tools she uses when making her own work and there will be opportunity for group sharing.

I Can Be… A Comedian!

Discover the Power of Laughter. Join comedian Colin Manford for a fun, interactive comedy workshop designed to boost confidence, spark creativity, and explore how comedy can open doors to exciting career paths. Whether you’re dreaming of the stage or just want to build life skills through laughter, this session shows how comedy can improve mental wellbeing, communication, and self-expression.

Following the skills workshops there will be an opportunity for relaxed and informal career chats.  Discover careers in the creative industries, ask questions, and learn how you can make a living doing what you love!

10am – 4pm on Wednesday 27 August (lunch is included)

Taking place at Wakefield Exchange (next to Wakefield city bus station).

Guide age is 13-17yrs.
